You won't believe the number of emails we consistently receive from concerned and worried parents of kids or youth who have recently discovered the beauty and excitement of ATV riding. all these kids and youth are hyped up about mastering the art of ATV riding…and yet, the parents are standing in the background biting their nails, praying really hard and promising God that they'll start going back to church!

While it's true that ATV riding can be…let me repeat it again, CAN BE a dangerous sport for kids and youths but it DOESN'T HAVE TO BE. Now, as a concerned parent of children, kids and youths who are into ATV, there are things that you can do to ensure their safety. Reminder and constant nagging or refusal to accept ATV as a sport will not help. The more effective way to deal with this problem is to sit down with your child and roll out an effective and strategic discussion on how your kids and youth intend to be safe while riding their ATVs.

You'll be surprised, sometimes, that kids and youth don't realize why you're all naggy, moody, negative and mad at the prospect of them riding ATVs. In their minds, the moment you object to their newfound hobby, you're not cool and unapproachable. It's true. And from then on, talking to them about ATV safety riding might turn into a huge hurtful battle between parent(s) and child(ren). Sadly, this is not the right way to do this – yet, many parents have to go through this phase with their kids/youths who love ATV riding.

One option is for parents to send their kids for ATV classes and rid themselves of the worry of their kids/youths not being able to handle the ATVs properly. once they are properly trained, chances of them losing control of their ATVs or making silly mistakes which might result in serious injury is lessen. Bear in mind that mistakes are common and so is injury, but when kids/youths are properly trained by an ATV school, their reaction is quicker and conscience are stronger. This is one of the best way to protect your kids/youths from sustaining injury while riding ATVs.

Don't take the negative approach and instead, show them that you respect their decisions to take up ATV as a sport or hobby but you expect them to take care of themselves. When you show trust and belief in their ATV riding skill and maturity, if they encounter problems, they are more likely to come to you for a discussion. In that case, you can easily provide advice and guidance.

If they have a trainer, speak to the trainer once in a while and understand what your kids/youth have learned and gone through. This way, your fear and worries will be less.

Anyway, let the kids have a good time riding their ATVs…in fact, parents who get into the game with their kids/youths find it easier to communicate about ATVs. Good luck!
