ATV Tire – the unsung hero

Lots of people don't see the importance of having the right kind of tires attached to their ATVs because it just doesn't seem to contribute all that much to the speed and performance of the ATV. But this makes the ATV tire the unsung hero of a high performance ATV because it doesn't matter how powerful the engine of the ATV is if the tire of the ATV won't take you anywhere! But the experts can tell you that good tires often make a good ATV and they make the fastest moving and best selling aftermarket product in the ATV industry.

If you're a beginner in the game of ATV riding, you're probably going to get a little bit confusing. But worry not, you're not alone because there are so many choices out there in market. To make things a little bit easier to digest, we'll narrow it down to the three basic categories…i.e. multipurpose, Mud tires and also the Stock Replacement tires.

This the basic rule of thumb for any beginner ATV riders, when confused, go for the multipurpose which is…well, multipurpose? These tires are usually made for multiple terrains, are puncture-resistant and the traction is usually very good.

Mud tires are heavier and bigger because they're made for muddy terrains. You'll need the extra weight to get through the sludge. But if you're using mud tires on normal terrains, you're going to lose out on speed and smoothness of the ride. It's a compromise. So, when riding on rocky or smooth terrains, change to multipurpose tires.

Just remember, it's important to use the right tires when riding – it makes a whole world of difference.
