May 08, 2007
When we talk about snowmobiles and trails, those who love ATVs and snowmobiles should know that Ontario has vast rugged landscape for ATVers and snowmobilers to roam and explore on their machines. The beautiful countryside of Ontario is really ATV haven! Especially Ontario 's Haliburton Highlands – name it and they have it. their terrain offers mud, high hills, twisted terrain, angry obstacles curtained by trees and amazing flora and fauna. If you're into motosport, ATV riding and snowmobile riding, you can't possible miss taking the ATV to Haliburton Highlands. There are so many trails there that it's just not possible to name all of them here. The only favor your can do for yourself as an ATV fan is to click on to this website to find out more information about their ATV trails. http://www.haliburtonatv.com/ We loved everything about the ATV trail and have a strong inkling that you're going to fall in love with it and never want to live! There are hydro highways, heritage roads, logging roads, abandoned rail roads and of course, the looming HILLS to climb! Now, although many parts of their trails are suitable for beginners and intermediate ATV riders, we reckon that there are some trails that is best left untouched if one is not an expert on an ATV. A winch, trust us, is a must sometimes on some of their more difficult routes. Getting stuck is almost compulsory. Stuck or not, your mind will be stuck on Haliburton Highlands once you take it on. Don't say we didn't warn you. 1,700 miles of ATV trail to ride – think about it. You're sweating already, aren't you? Itching to grab your ATV and go, eh? Yeah, us too. We don't think anyone should ever try to ride the ATV terrain alone. It's way too easy to get lost especially in the deeper access of the woods. Imagine being stuck and you have no one to help you. Dang! The best plan would be to get together with your club members and plan a trip up to Haliburton Highlands together. There's a great need or maps and compasses – arm yourself with more than one. Forget the beer, though, because Haliburton Highlands totally forbids drinking. Make sure you have your helmet with you, your ATV plate and insurance – very strict checks will be conducted. ATVers must be licensed drivers. In order to ride on the ATV trail in Haliburton Highlands, you need to sign, complete and mail their membership form back to them. Their membership forms can be found here. http://www.haliburtonatv.com/forms/membership_form_2006.pdf (pdf format) http://www.haliburtonatv.com/forms/06membership2.doc (MS Word). They also have annuam family membership which goes for $20 which includes many things like magazine subscription, club decal for your ATV, insurance, ATV training programs, maps of the Haliburton Highland trails…etc. For their annual family membership package (which we happen to think is the better deal) down their pdf membership form here: http://www.haliburtonatv.com/forms/membership_form_2006.pdf or http://www.haliburtonatv.com/forms/06membership2.doc As you know, weather condition is a great concern when it comes to ATVing out in the wild and considering the fact that Haliburton is as wild as nature is going to get, check the weather conditions here before heading over. http://www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/city/pages/on-165_metric_e.html |
