Cheap ATVs not complete loss

Are cheap ATVs a complete waste of time and money? Well, it depends on what you want to do with the ATV. Like they always say, you get what you pay for. In paying a low price for the ATV, you shouldn’t expect it to work, sound and perform the way a….say, Honda, Suzuki or Can-Am would. However, there are many things you can do to the cheap ATV to make it trail-worthy. It might need a major overhaul, depending on the condition of the cheap ATV, especially if it’s a used ATV. But if you want to buy a cheap used ATV, be sure to check the condition of the ATV, give it a test-ride before buying the ATV. After all, who knows where the ATV has been to? Yeah, it’s cheap but there are a thousand and one reasons for the cheap ATV conk out on you unannounced. We hate nothing more than anything else surprise breakdowns.
Sure, I’ve owned a couple of cheap ATVs in this lifetime – mostly it was when I couldn’t afford the monster machine of my dream and all my friends had bicycles. Having an ATV (cheap as it is) was a major ego booster. But whatever I had, I made the most out of it. Heck, it makes sense, sometimes not to break a budget purchasing top of the line ATV and investing in a cheap piece of junk. It makes owning an ATV all the more meaningful.
I remember sitting in the garage for days on end with that cheap ATV, fixing this, fixing that, testing it out, having it fall apart, dragging it back into the garage, swear at it, swear at myself, and then replacing some parts of the cheap ATV….and the cycle goes on. At the end of the day, after a lot of sweating and swearing, I was pretty proud of the end result. It wasn’t a Predator but it was a Cheap ATV that I had single-handedly transformed. And it worked pretty good too.
I couldn’t have transformed that cheap old junk into a credible ATV without the help of Frank, the local mechanic near by home, who laughed at me when he saw the cheap ATV that I bought. He was jealous as hell! Seriously, it was fun, alright and Frank admitted that he had a fun time spending my money fixing that cheap ATV.
So yeah….if you think a cheap old junk is worth nothing, think again. You can have loads of fun fixing up a cheap ATV into something trail-worthy.
